It's games, purses and auctions for Ladies Night Out

The United Way of Guernsey, Monroe, and Noble counties hosted its annual Ladies Night Out event on Thursday at the Pritchard Laughlin Civic Center.

Multiple businesses were on site to offer shopping options to attendees. The Gypsy Daisy Co., Pure Hippie, and Bon Ton Studio were some of the vendors with displays set up. Ladies could also purchase lightly used purses or shoes as part of the fundraiser as well. Handbags

Games were played every 15 minutes and ranged from balloon races to musical chairs. A silent auction was offered where guests could bid on an assortment of items. A Mosser glass cake stand and glass dome, a gift certificate to Deep Cut Tavern, patio furniture, and of course handbags were all available for bidding. A live purse auction rounded out the evening.

"This is one of our biggest fundraisers and every year we pick a different partner organization to focus on ... partner meaning an agency that we help give financial support to. We try to raise awareness through a fun event that's focused on celebrating women, and the influence of women in our community, but also because a lot of women in our community have the heart to make a difference. This year we're going to be focused on the Children's Advocacy Center," said Marynell Townsend, executive director of the United Way of Guernsey, Monroe, and Noble counties.

"I think that sometimes we don't realize that right in our own community there are some very heart-wrenching cases," she said.
