The Shropshire based company are experienced in creating a range of gabion baskets, manufactured both from welded mesh and woven wire to be used in many situations, including earth stabilisation and erosion protection, river control, canal refurbishment and landscaping, as well as small bespoke projects.

By using welded mesh gabion baskets, a curved gabion wall was erected very quickly, providing extra protection for the river banks in the event of excessive rainfall and flooding. As the river water is retained and controlled by the gabions, the river bank is not subject to erosion or earth movement as it would have been beforehand. Welded mesh gabions were ideal for this project, as they were quick and simple to build, and unlike woven wire, do not require tensioning.

Fine Mesh Metals Company Director, Andy Beard said: “Following the effects of the recent flooding throughout the United Kingdom, we are proud to be able to supply gabion baskets to help prevent further flood damage.”
