Pickup, a subsidiary of La Poste Group, has announced a partnership with Louvre Hotels Group via its internal startup Weboost. The cooperation will see up to 150 lockers will be deployed in the group’s establishments throughout France within the next 18 months.

Geopost says that the installation of the lockers is a “practical and innovative solution that anchors the hotel as a place of service for nearby residents”.

According to Geopost, the use of parcel lockers as a delivery option grew by 17% to 20% in France last year.

The parcel locker roll-out will mainly concern the Kyriad, Kyriad Direct, Campanile and Première Classe brands. The first phase of the roll-out from February to April resulted in around twenty lockers being installed across France, with more to come over the next few months.

The parcels that can be delivered to the Pickup lockers are Chronopost, Colissimo, and soon DPD France parcels, from orders placed with one of the 90,000 partner e-tailers.

“This solution enables the hotels concerned to enhance their service offering and increase their added value, not only for their customers, but also for the residents living nearby! It is a great opportunity for them to make their hotel known to a new public and to increase their presence in the public eye,” writes Geopost.

In addition to the above, the Geopost says the new lockers are also a way for Pickup to better absorb the growth in volumes, to support the surrounding retail outlets and prevent possible overloads.

Commenting on the news, Maxime d’Hauteville, Chairman of Pickup, said:

“We are thrilled with this partnership, which gives us the perfect opportunity to invest in a new arena. This is the first time we have installed our lockers in hotels! We are happy to be able to diversify our locations, to cover a wider target and meet the needs of as many people as possible. After this first phase of roll-outs, we hope to extend our partnership to other hotels in the group.”

Maëlle Perennec, responsible for strategy & innovation at the Louvre Hotels Group, added:

Smart Parcel Drop Box “Louvre Hotels Group is delighted to be the first hotel company to collaborate with Pickup to provide a left-luggage collection service in its hotels in France. This initiative is part of our commitment to provide our guests with an increasingly convenient and innovative stay experience. We are delighted to be able to offer this new service to our guests and to all the residents living near our hotels.”
